These are the hospitals, public and private, that perform coronavirus tests in Mexico

In addition to various public institutions, only 3 private hospitals test for coronavirus with quality control.

Authorities of the Ministry of Health have reported that the confirmatory test for the coronavirus that causes Covid-19 can be performed in the public sector of any country at no cost, to which two private institutions were added.

Among the institutions to which people can go to take the test validated by the Institute of Epidemiological Diagnosis and Reference (Indre) are all the state public health laboratories of the 32 states.

There are also the National Institute of Respiratory Diseases ( INER ) and the Salvador Zubirán Institute of Medical Sciences and Nutrition ; the hospitals General de México, November 20 , of the Institute of Social Security for State Workers ( ISSSTE ) and General La Raza of the Mexican Institute of Social Security (IMSS).

As for private institutions, so far, only the ABC Medical Center, Observatory Campus, and Hospital Angeles Interlomas are validated.

During the daily conference on the new coronavirus on Thursday, the undersecretary for Prevention and Health Promotion, Hugo López Gatell, indicated that the government does not prohibit the other private institutions from carrying out the test, however, they have to pass a control of quality.

“We are concerned that a scam will occur that would consist of presenting a service that does not have technical accreditation and could result in harm to the population,” he said.

The official warned that a false negative result could lead to overconfidence that one does not have the disease, and if this occurs in older adults, pregnant women or people with chronic conditions, it may lead them to miss the opportunity to be treated promptly.

“Of course, the other concern could be scams in unauthorize testing he said.
