Ana Laura López Bautista was appointed by President Andrés Manuel López Obrador as the new general coordinator of Ports and Merchant Marine since Rosa Icela Rodríguez left to be incharge of the Secretary for Security and Citizen Protection (SSPC).

López Bautista is a high-altitude captain of the Merchant Navy with a Master’s Degree in Maritime and Port Administration from the Business School of the Canary Islands. She came to the López Obrador government as head of the General Directorate of Research and Development of the Secretary of the Navy (SEMAR ).

She later became captain of the Port of Islas Mujeres and finally captain of the Port of Puerto Escondido, in Oaxaca. Both within the SEMAR.

Previously she was dedicated to the private sector. From 2001 to 2011 she was at Cemex Internacional as First Deck Officer. From 2011 to 2014 she was captain of Oceanography. And from 2014 to 2017, a representative on board of International Coastline Maritime.

In 2018 and 2019, López Bautista did not make her patrimonial declaration public, but in 2020 she gave details about her material possessions.

In SEMAR, she earns $436,434 pesos per year, after taxes. It also has a house acquired in 2017 with a value of $681,462 pesos, as well as two pieces of vacant land, one in 2005 valued at $15,000 pesos, and another donated with a value of $10,518 pesos.
