The first thing is to learn to identify volcanic ash among the ash that could be generated in this area because it is highly sugarcane.
Córdoba, Ver.- Given the forecasts that part of the volcanic ash emitted in the last hours by the Popocatépetl volcano could reach Veracruz, the head of the Municipal Coordination of Civil Protection of Córdoba, Jorge Tress Martínez urges the population to take preventive measurements.
“We have been in contact with the National Center for Disaster Prevention (CENAPRED) and based on its National Risk Atlas, the possibility of abundant ash fall in this city is minimal, but we must take preventive measures”, comments the interviewee.
He points out that the first thing is to learn to identify volcanic ash among the ash that could be generated in this area because it is highly sugarcane, in this sense, he details that the volcanic ash is of a sandier consistency and in a grayish tone, while the common ash is in tones blacks.
If there is a record of volcanic ash falling in the area, it is best not to wash it, but rather to sweep it and collect it to deposit it in the trash, because if it is washed it could go into the drainage system and could generate clogging.
