Veracruz is second in the country in dengue deaths; there are 13 cases

The state of Veracruz moved from third to second place nationwide among the entities with the most deaths caused by dengue, with 13 deaths recorded as of August 5.

The Special Epidemiological Surveillance System for Dengue indicates that in nine days the entity went from having 10 deaths to 13, so now it is only surpassed by Morelos, which has 14 deaths.

Added to this is that so far this year in the state of Veracruz, 2,223 confirmed cases have been registered, which is a higher figure than that registered in the same period but in 2023, when 1,498 were recorded.

It should be noted that with these figures, the state of Veracruz is ranked sixth nationwide among the entities with the most cases.

The health authority indicates that of the 2,223 cases, the majority have been reported as non-serious dengue with 1,294, dengue with warning signs totals 868 cases and severe dengue totals 61 cases.

At the national level, 30,951 cases and 80 deaths have been recorded due to this disease.

The first place at the national level for cases is Guerrero with 4,403, followed by Tabasco with 2,866, then Morelos with 2,481.

In fourth place is Michoacán with 2,442, in fifth place Oaxaca with 2,291 and then Veracruz appears in sixth place with 2,223.

In the country, of the 30,952 cases, 16,988 were reported as non-serious dengue, 12,882 as dengue with warning signs and 1,081 as severe dengue.
