Half Marathon postponed in Veracruz

The 19th edition of the Puerto de Veracruz Half Marathon, which was to be held this Sunday, was cancelled due to the forecast of bad weather that will impact the Gulf of Mexico as a result of cold front 24, the organizing committee reported, following recommendations from civil protection.

The organizing committee had delivered the competition kit this Saturday to the athletes who had registered and who would take the start early this Sunday, at 6:30 a.m.

The organizing committee of the 19th edition of the Puerto de Veracruz Half Marathon issued the following information, in which it explains the reasons and the decision to cancel the traditional athletic event and below it is quoted as it was sent:

“Due to instructions from the Civil Protection authorities and due to adverse weather conditions, we find it necessary to postpone the Half Marathon.

“Wind gusts are expected to exceed 50 km/h from the early hours of the morning, which represents a risk to the physical integrity of the participants and the event itself.

“We ask that you stay tuned to our social networks, in which we will inform you in the coming days of the new date and the conditions for participating.

“We appreciate your understanding and support and deeply regret the decision taken, but the safety of all runners is the most important thing.
