Four women were murdered today in two separate incidents in northern Veracruz.
The crimes occurred in the metropolitan municipalities of Coatzintla and Papantla, where officers from different police forces carried out a police deployment.
According to police sources, in the community of Carrizal in the municipality of Papantla, armed men entered a home and shot and killed two women, ages 55 and 60.
Following the crime, federal, military, and state forces were deployed to the area, but were unable to capture the killers.
Meanwhile, in the municipality of Coatzintla, the bodies of two women were found abandoned on a road under construction in the Veracruz neighborhood.
In both cases, the State Attorney General’s Office has launched investigations to determine the causes of the murders and the probable perpetrators.
It’s worth noting that in the northern region of Veracruz, the municipalities of Cerro Azul, Espinal, Coxquihui, and Coahuitlán have suspended all their national holiday ceremonies due to the wave of violence sweeping the region.
During the first six months of the year, 53 incidents of extreme violence have been documented in Veracruz territory, according to the civil organization Causa en Común, resulting in 65 fatalities.
