The sixth annual Taco Festival in Xalapa exceeded expectations and saw high visitor participation, according to the City Council’s Economic Development Department, headed by Daniela Griego Ceballos.
The event was held for the first time at Paseo de Los Lagos, where it took place in a family-friendly, organized, and safe environment, with activities geared toward different segments of the population.
Organized by the Veracruz Gastronomic Council, the festival incorporated activities focused on gastronomy, culture, health, and community engagement, as part of a strategy to strengthen the local economy.
During the event, the Health Department disseminated information about the Healthy Eating Plate, while children and young people participated in activities to promote healthy eating habits, including making their own “healthy taco.”
The Municipal DIF System supported the participation of local women entrepreneurs, who showcased products resulting from self-employment workshops, in an effort to strengthen the family economy.
In the cultural sphere, performances were given by musical groups, independent artists, and soloists, broadening the event’s appeal to diverse audiences.
Authorities emphasized that the festival was held without the sale of alcoholic beverages, reinforcing its family-friendly nature and encouraging visitor participation.
They also indicated that holding the event at Paseo de Los Lagos opens the possibility of diversifying the use of public spaces in the municipality.
The City Council announced that it will continue to promote similar activities to foster economic development and social interaction, with events such as the Flower Festival scheduled for June.
