Morena federal deputy Zenyazen Escobar was found dead on the morning of this Friday, September 4, in the community of La Gloria, in the municipality of Puente.
The exact causes of his death are currently unknown. However, reports indicate that his body had gunshot wounds and that the incident was apparently not the result of an attack or assault against the vehicle he was traveling in, but rather an attack that occurred inside the vehicle.

Zenyazen Roberto Escobar García, born in June 1984 in Nogales, Veracruz, was a federal deputy for Morena representing Córdoba, after being elected in August 2024 for a term lasting until August 2027.
Among his political experience, he served as Secretary of Education in the government of Veracruz, a local deputy in the Veracruz Congress, and held an interim position supervising state telesecundary schools in School Zone 609.
Regarding his political career, he participated in Education, Resistance and Magisterial Dignity within the Veracruz Popular Teachers’ Movement (MMPV) of the National Coordinating Committee of Education Workers (CNTE).
As part of his academic background, he earned a bachelor’s degree in Communication Sciences from the Universidad de Sotavento in 2018 and obtained a Master’s Degree in Educational Sciences from the Center for Advanced Studies of the Americas. He also worked as a teacher in state telesecundary schools in Veracruz.
Zenyazen Escobar served as Secretary of Education in Veracruz from 2018 to 2021.
Zenyazen Escobar Is Involved in a Fight
One of the most remembered incidents involving the deputy occurred in May of this year, when Zenyazen Escobar was involved in a confrontation with PRI deputy Carlos Gutiérrez Mancilla, during an extraordinary session at the Palacio de San Lázaro.
The confrontation stemmed from a heated verbal clash between government and opposition lawmakers that lasted more than 30 hours, amid discussions on electoral reforms proposed by President Claudia Sheinbaum and the Morena parliamentary group.
Upon noticing the situation, Morena lawmakers Mario Miguel Carrillo and Jaime Humberto Pérez ran to intervene between those involved. However, Zenyazen Escobar forcefully pushed the former while attempting to reach Gutiérrez Mancilla. As a result, deputies from the so-called 4T approached to move their colleague away and escort him toward an exit door.
When the Morena coordinator returned to the session after the confrontation, Escobar approached him to give his version of events. The floor then returned to a tense calm and the session resumed.
