Veracruz will once again serve as a stage for La Carrera Panamericana, one of the most recognized road endurance competitions in the world. In its 39th edition, the race will cover approximately 700 kilometers through Veracruz territory on October 16 and 17.
During the official presentation of the 2026 edition, held at the Alcázar of Chapultepec Castle, Veracruz Secretary of Tourism and Culture Igor Rojí López highlighted that the return of the competition will allow the state’s natural, gastronomic, and cultural wealth to be showcased to national and international participants and visitors.
“It is an honor for Veracruz to once again bring La Carrera Panamericana back to our state. We want to showcase an extraordinary Veracruz, with great gastronomy, folklore, and the joy of its people.”
The route will enter through Coatzacoalcos, continue toward Los Tuxtlas and Sotavento, and eventually reach the port of Veracruz, where a reception will be held at the Macroplaza on October 16, featuring cultural activities and a public celebration to bring the competition closer to Veracruz families.
On the 17th, the vehicles will depart from the port toward Xalapa, where they will make a stop before continuing to Tlapacoyan, one of the areas featuring highly attractive sections and curves for drivers and motorsport enthusiasts.
Veracruz’s participation represents approximately one-fourth of the competition’s route, the official noted, while conveying Governor Rocío Nahle García’s welcome message to organizers, drivers, and participants.
“We are waiting for you in Veracruz with open arms, with extraordinary gastronomy and wonderful folklore. Veracruz will continue to be in fashion.”
La Carrera Panamericana’s general director, Karen León Grossmann, reported that this edition will feature 80 cars, 160 competitors, and representatives from more than 12 nationalities, who will travel through 172 municipalities and 10 Pueblos Mágicos across the country.
She stated that the competition is an important driver of sports tourism and a platform for showcasing Mexico’s cultural and geographic diversity to the world, while also promoting community tourism and supporting vulnerable communities through the Huellas Panamericanas program.
The 39th edition will start in Chiapas and travel through Veracruz, Mexico City, Puebla, Querétaro, Guanajuato, and San Luis Potosí, before concluding in Zacatecas.
The presentation brought together representatives from the Secretariat of Tourism of the Government of Mexico, authorities from the states included in the Panamericana route — Chiapas, Veracruz, Mexico City, Puebla, Morelos, Querétaro, Guanajuato, San Luis Potosí, Aguascalientes, and Zacatecas — as well as executives from La Carrera Panamericana, the Mexican Federation of Motorsports, and representatives from the automotive and tourism sectors.
