The number of people fleeing their countries to request refuge in Mexico is an upward trend that demands projects that promote adequate labor investment and decent work for those who have forcedly moved, said the head of the Mexican Commission for Assistance for Refugees (Comar), Andrés Silva and officials of the International Labor Organization (ILO), the United Nations Agency for Refugees (UNHCR) and the Delegation of the European Union in Mexico.
During the launch of a regional project to promote socio-economic integration of refugees in Costa Rica, Honduras and the Mexican Republic, Andrés Silva indicated that strategies such as the aforementioned are necessary and indispensable “because the numbers are growing exponentially,” he warned that this trend will continue to increase.
