Richard Villa, a reporter from Veracruz, was deprived of his liberty by armed individuals, according to reports

This Monday afternoon, the illegal deprivation of liberty of reporter Richard Villa was reported in the Lázaro Cárdenas neighborhood, in Veracruz.

Through his social networks, the outlet where he worked, Presente Veracruz, indicated that Villa was “levantado” at approximately 5:40 p.m. by hooded individuals with long weapons.

The outlet specified that Richard Villa was repairing his motorcycle on the agricultural street of the Lázaro Cárdenas neighborhood.

For its part, the Veracruz Public Security Secretariat reported that it had activated an operation in the area to locate the victim and arrest his captors.

In said strategy, he pointed out that federal, state and municipal forces participate after the activation of the red code.

For its part, the state Commission for the Attention and Protection of Journalists explained that it is coordinating with the Secretary of Security and the Veracruz Attorney General’s Office in this search operation.

“As it is a high-risk case and in order not to hinder the search protocol, the CEAPP is unable to offer more information in this regard,” he said in a statement.
