Tired of extortion and abuse of authority, residents of Tezonapa, in the central part of the state of Veracruz, burned at least two traffic patrol cars and demonstrated outside the police delegation offices.
With their faces covered and extremely angry, the protesters set fire to the vehicles and also tied up and stripped two traffic officers of their clothing.
Videos were shared on social media showing the flames consuming the vehicles outside the traffic offices, with the officers unable to do anything.
State Police officers arrived at the scene, but were overwhelmed by the protesters, and the vehicles were reduced to ashes.
The protesters claim they are constantly subjected to extortion and abuse when transporting various agricultural products to be sold in nearby municipalities, and that motorcyclists in the area are also attacked by uniformed officers.
