What is the Orizaba Mountain Slide like?

Opened on January 21, 2023, the Orizaba Mountain Slide was the first of its kind in Mexico and is one of the longest in the country.

Built by the German company Wiegand Sports GmbH, which specializes in alpine roller coasters, it has a 650-meter ride through curves and turns on one of the slopes of Cerro de Escamela.

It descends a total of 53 meters and can reach speeds of up to 40 kilometers per hour.

The ride duration varies depending on brake control and the weight of the occupants, although it averages 3 to 8 minutes.

In addition to the sensation of adrenaline, speed, and gravitational pull, the ride offers beautiful panoramic views of the Orizaba Mountains.

What are the rules and recommendations for riding the mountain slide?

The Orizaba Mountain Slide is an adventure activity, so there are some rules and recommendations to keep in mind:

The strollers have a capacity of two people.

The front seat can only be occupied by people at least one meter tall; The rear seat is reserved for people taller than 1.40 meters. The person in the back is responsible for operating the two brake levers.

The levers work like this: lowering them moves the cart forward; raising them slows it down.

The driver must keep their hands on the levers throughout the ride.

The safety distance between each sled must be at least 25 meters.
