Security agreement signed between Veracruz and Chiapas

Inside the Venustiano Carranza Lighthouse, Governors Rocío Nahle García and Eduardo Ramírez Aguilar of Veracruz and Chiapas, respectively, celebrated the signing of a security and intelligence agreement to preserve the “neighborhood” between the two states as part of the National Plan for Peacebuilding.

“Above all, the neighborliness we have always had between Veracruz and Chiapas, (…) we are, of course, collaborating to address the causes, implement an inclusive, active social policy, and, most importantly, protect our territory, justice, and all citizens,” emphasized State Governor Rocío Nahle.

She stated that significant collaboration has already been established with the state of Chiapas.

“We are going to work together for the six years we share the governorships of our states,” she added.

The event took place after the security committee’s coordination meeting at the Navy facilities in this city.

The signing of the agreement was scheduled for 11:00 a.m., but due to delays in the Chiapas governor’s agenda, it was held after noon.

The event was attended by authorities from both governments, including the Veracruz Secretary of Government, Ricardo Ahued Bardahuil; the Chiapas Secretary of Government and Mediation, Patricia del Carmen Conde Ruiz; the Veracruz Secretary of Public Security, Alfonso Reyes Garcés; and the Chiapas Secretary of Public Security, Oscar Alberto Aparicio.

The Chiapas State Prosecutor, Jorge Luis Llaven Abarca; the Veracruz Prosecutor, Verónica Hernández Giadáns; the Commander of the First Naval Region, Ramiro Lobato Camacho; and the mayors of Boca del Río, Juan Manuel de Unanue Abascal; Marcos Isleño Andrade from Medellín de Bravo and the mayor of Alvarado, Lizzette Álvarez, as well as other state and municipal authorities who attended.

Governor of Chiapas calls for the reinforcement of highways along the border with Coatzacoalcos and Las Choapas

The governor of the state of Chiapas, Eduardo Ramírez Aguilar, called for the reinforcement of highways along the border with Coatzacoalcos and Las Choapas to strengthen security.

During the signing of a collaboration agreement held this Friday at this port, the state leader highlighted the trade between Veracruz and Chiapas, especially in the municipalities of Coatzacoalcos and Coita.

Regarding security, he mentioned that coordination between the two states has prevailed in the arrest of individuals who have been handed over to their prosecutors.

However, he called for the reinforcement of highways to monitor the transit of goods on the stretches from Coatzacoalcos and Las Choapas to Chiapas.

“We must reinforce our highways during this holiday season and during the transit season. It is important to have very good surveillance of the stretches from Coatzacoalcos to Las Choapas, because coordination will always give us good results,” he stated.

He assured that after this agreement, there will be every willingness to collaborate together.

“When exercising public service, it must be done with moral authority, and with moral authority, we can make mistakes because we are human beings, but we know how to rectify them. When moral authority is violated, the history of a people changes, despair and discouragement arrive, but this is not the case in Chiapas or Veracruz. Here, we have a job that supports us with our people,” he stated.

The state governor thanked his counterpart for her willingness to sign this agreement.

He said he was happy to visit Veracruz and experience its history, saying that Mexico could not be understood without the history of this state, and he extended an invitation to a cultural gathering.
