Authorities in the state of Veracruz highlighted the influx of tourists during the first week of the Easter holiday throughout the state. They explained that at least 20 municipalities—near beaches, rivers, and in the central mountainous region of Veracruz—were the most popular destinations for tourists.

At a press conference at the Government Palace, Jorge Flores Lara, Undersecretary of Tourism Promotion and Services for the state of Veracruz, presented the results regarding economic impact, hotel occupancy, and the number of visitors who came to the state of Veracruz during this holiday season.


According to Jorge Flores, the first week of the Easter holiday—considered the peak week—registered an influx of 1,217,072 people, of which 631,394 were tourists and 585,678 were visitors.

Their visit to the state of Veracruz, along with that of local residents, generated an average economic impact of 1,486,511,855 pesos.

Regarding hotel occupancy, it was reported that the average rate was 83.75 percent across various municipalities in the state of Veracruz. It was also noted that 60.59 percent of tourists chose to stay in hotels, 23.33 percent in Airbnb accommodations, and 16.8 percent with friends or family.

Finally, it was also determined that, on average, 60 percent of tourists traveled by their own car, 30 percent by public transportation, and 10 percent by rental car.

During the presentation, Jorge Flores Lara highlighted that at least 21 municipalities, including Pueblos Mágicos (Magical Towns) and heritage cities, were the top choices for tourists during the 2026 Easter holidays:

The Undersecretary of Tourism Promotion and Services for the state noted that this holiday season saw the arrival of tourists from 7 countries and at least 20 Mexican states.

The countries represented include: the United States, Germany, Spain, France, Canada, Argentina, and Colombia.

The Mexican states represented include: Mexico City, Chiapas, Chihuahua, State of Mexico, Guanajuato, Hidalgo, Jalisco, Michoacán, Morelos, Nayarit, Oaxaca, Puebla, Quintana Roo, San Luis Potosí, Sinaloa, Tabasco, Tamaulipas, Tijuana, Tlaxcala, and Yucatán.
