As summer vacation kicks off in the Veracruz-Boca del Río metropolitan area, the state government, through the Ministry of Culture, has launched an exciting initiative for tourists and locals alike: free cultural routes featuring guided tours aboard traditional “Cultura Bus” vehicles.
Scheduled for the first weekend of August—specifically Saturday and Sunday—these special tours are designed to immerse visitors in the rich history and traditions of the port city while exploring various iconic historical landmarks, museums, and cultural centers. To make the experience even more authentic, participants will also receive a complimentary traditional Veracruz-style café lechero (milky coffee) accompanied by a canilla (sweet bread roll) along the way.
The program features two distinct routes with flexible schedules. Route 1, operating from 11:00 to 14:00 hours and again from 16:00 to 19:00 hours, departs from the Gran Café de la Parroquia 500 Años in the Reforma neighborhood. Its stops include the Casa Benito Juárez, the Leyes de Reforma Cultural Center, the Exconvento Betlehemita Cultural Center, and the Atarazanas Cultural Center. Meanwhile, Route 2 runs from 11:00 to 14:00 hours, departing from the Gran Café de la Parroquia 200 Años on Boulevard Adolfo Ruiz Cortines. This route takes visitors to the Gran Café de la Parroquia 623, the Veracruz Phototheque, and the Agustín Lara House Museum.
Local authorities invite families and visitors to take advantage of these completely free guided excursions, offering a wonderful opportunity to blend regional heritage, architecture, and gastronomy during the summer holiday season.
