As part of his struggle to keep alive the rich cultural tradition of the state, Governor Cuitláhuac García Jiménez recognized the best participating representations of the Catrinas Parade and the Magical Veracruz Altar Showcase.
In a ceremony held at the facilities of the state DIF, the governor highlighted the interest of his administration to lead the construction of altars and the parade, considering these actions a fundamental piece for culture and recreation. “We have fought so that we make the culture of the people our own,” he said.
Regarding the Altar Showcase exhibited at the San Carlos Fortress in the municipality of Perote, he highlighted the arrival of 35 thousand visitors, which makes the venue a key tourist spot. “We are surprised by the visitors who came, there is an important economic spillover, but, above all, we bring people closer to the Fortress.”
In this sense, the altars of the Secretariats of Public Security, Government (SEGOB), Agricultural, Rural and Fisheries Development (SEDARPA), the General Coordination of Social Communication and the State Commission of Human Rights were awarded for their respect for tradition, the use of elements, the design, the originality and the quality of the assembly.
Honorable mentions were given to the Secretariats of Tourism (SECTUR), Culture (SECVER), the Governor’s Office, the City Hall of Perote and the Secretariat of National Defense. In addition, the Secretariat of Civil Protection received the distinction of the public with a total of 467 votes collected through a ballot box.
On the other hand, in the Children’s category of characterization of catrines and catrinas at the headquarters of the Veracruz Magic Altar Showcase, the winners of first place were Ruth Angélica Garcés Gutiérrez and Iván Herrera Pérez.
While, in the Adult category, first place was obtained by Angélica García Argüelles; Second, Maria del Rosario Diaz and third, Tesalia Hernandez, along with Erika Cortina Salgado, catrinas. Likewise, Jose Francisco Aguilar and second, Jose Aldo Barrientos, catrines. The first places won a laptop and a financial incentive.
Also, within the framework of the parade of the same name, Itzel Daniela Peredo Tellez (SEDARPA), Rafael Hernandez Sosa (DIF Misantla) and David Landa (free participant), in catrinas, were awarded for their makeup and staging, and Oscar Garcia Garcia (free participant), Abraham Benites Hernandez (DIF State) and Miguel Angel Robles (SEGOB), in catrines.
Also, Manuel Tejeda Cortes and Maria Lucia Guzman Prado (SEV); Sergio Amante and Luisa Polanco (DIF Municipal Xalapa); Emir Omar Enriquez Grajeda and Ana Karen Perez Pouchoulen (SEDESOL) in the Couples category; High school graduates from Xico, the SECVER and SEGOB in Contingents and SECTUR, the Ministry of Labor and the Perote Xalapa Highway Concessionaire in a Float.
