At least 300 members of the Criminal Investigation Agency of the Attorney General’s Office (FGR) are in Veracruz to conduct an investigation following the murder of two of their colleagues last Monday.
Federal agents gathered in the Veracruz-Boca del Río metropolitan area with the support of 90 official vehicles. Since last Tuesday, they have been carrying out a series of operations in search of the members of the kidnapping gang who clashed with a special group from the agency.
The contingent of FGR members appeared publicly this morning in this tourist area of Veracruz.
Last Monday, a deployment unit composed of nine members assigned to the Federal Ministerial Police’s Kidnapping Unit was shot at in the municipality of Boca del Río.
As a result of the intense gunfire, two officers died in the line of duty and a third was injured. Meanwhile, a suspected criminal was killed.
The operations, carried out by heavily armed officers and dozens of vehicles, target the criminals who shot at members of the Criminal Investigation Agency who were pursuing kidnappers.
An initial operation was carried out in the Floresta neighborhood, and a second on Miguel Alemán Boulevard in front of the Boca del Río market.
