Yolpaki, meaning “happy heart” in Nahuatl, is a reunion with one’s roots, and Veracruz is ready to experience three days of music, dance, flavors, knowledge, and tradition from May 23rd to 25th in the port’s Macroplaza and in the cultural venues of the Veracruz Ministry of Culture (SECVER). All activities will be free and suitable for the whole family.
On Friday, admission will be open to the general public from 5:00 PM; the parade will begin at 6:00 PM with the participation of 13 Indigenous and Afro-descendant communities. Following the parade, traditional dances will be presented and a concert will mark the closing of the opening ceremony.
On Saturday, the workshops, the sale of handicrafts and traditional medicine, and the participation of cooks who preserve Veracruz’s rich gastronomy will begin.
The head of SECVER, Xóchitl Molina González, accompanied by artisans, regional artists, and representatives of the tourism and gastronomy sectors, such as Abigail Guzmán, president of CANIRAC, and César Alfonso Muñiz Cuervo, president of the Veracruz Hotel Association, highlighted the importance of these gatherings for children to learn about and appreciate the state’s cultural diversity.
The program includes three days of musical performances with groups from Veracruz’s 10 regions, as well as forums with traditional activities.
Cultural venues will offer special activities, including the Ceramics Fair at the Betlehemita Convent, the Traditional Painting Exhibition at the Atarazanas Cultural Center, and a performance by the Tuxpan Youth Symphony Orchestra at the Teatro de la Reforma.
With a 100% family-friendly atmosphere, Yolpaki is designed for all ages. This great gathering of cultures and knowledge brings together the state’s living expressions in one place, fostering a festive exchange that celebrates Veracruz’s roots with joy and pride.
SECVER reiterates its invitation to join this celebration of identity and tradition. Follow @SECVEROficial on social media for more information about this and all the cultural activities taking place in the state of Veracruz.
